May Meeting - The plight of Migratory songbirds and the need for sanctuaries by Andreas Haun

Andreas Haun was born in Germany, and immigrated to Canada in 1966 at the age of 5 (years) with his family.  Raised on a Family Farm and Garden Nursery in St Stephen NB, Andreas went on to form (one of his many ventures), his own Landscape Company and while working as the landscaper for property owners, John & Lucinda Flemer, the idea to create the 27-acre public garden, Kingsbrae Garden was formed.  Construction of the site began in 1995 and opened to the public in 1998 coming in under budget and on time.  While under the management of Haun, Kingsbrae Garden has gone on to win National, Provincial and International acclaim and he himself was chosen Canada’s Tourism employee of the Year by the Tourism Industry Association of Canada (TIAC) at the annual national awards in 2006.
As well as daily management of Kingsbrae Horticultural Garden Inc., Andreas sits on or chairs a number of local and provincial committees and spearheaded the formation of the Charlotte Coastal Region Tourism Association.  CCRTA is a membership based organization, which serves all of Charlotte County speaking for and promoting the entire region.

Andreas is an environmentalist first & foremost and is constantly aware of, while attempting to lessen, the carbon footprint we leave in our wake.

Andreas lives and works in St Andrews NB with his wife Kim, stepson Braydon, and his beloved greyhound Cinders.
